Duchowe portrety autor\u00f3w \u201eKultury\u201d paryskiej<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The book is a collection of ten literary essays devoted to authors associated with the Paris-based journal \u201cKultura\u201d. Its protagonists include poets Czes\u0142aw Mi\u0142osz and Wac\u0142aw Iwaniuk, essayists Konstanty Jele\u0144ski and Jerzy Stempowski, diarists J\u00f3zef Czapski and Gustaw Herling-Grudzi\u0144ski, playwright Witold Gombrowicz, novelist Florian Czarnyszewicz, and the author of the famous \u201cSzkice pi\u00f3rkiem\u201d, Andrzej Bobkowski.<\/p>\n<p>They are all connected by the shared idea of the journal, which functioned as an intellectual centre of Polish emigration in the second half of the 20th century. They also proved to be outstanding creators in the history of 20th-century Polish literature. The phenomenon of the \u201cKultura\u201d milieu is deepened here through portraits of its main figures in a spiritual dimension \u2013 not only in relation to fundamental questions of collective life, but above all through their individual existential and often metaphysical searches. The question of the personal search for meaning opens a new perspective on the reception of the works and attitudes of people who continue to shape our present.<\/p>\n<h2>About the participants<\/h2>\n<p><strong>\u0141ukasz Marci\u0144czak<\/strong> \u2013 born in 1971 in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a. Graduate of philosophy at the Maria Curie-Sk\u0142odowska University, PhD in humanities (philosophy). Former editor of the UMCS Alumni Association journal \u201cAS UMCS\u201d. Since 2006, permanent contributor to \u201cAkcent\u201d, where he publishes essays, reviews, and sketches on authors associated with the Paris \u201cKultura\u201d circle and the multicultural past of Lublin and the Lublin region. He has also published in \u201cColloquia Communia\u201d, \u201cGazeta Wyborcza\u201d, and \u201cMagyar Napl\u00f3\u201d (Budapest). Author of the poetry volume \u201cProfil odci\u015bni\u0119ty w glinie\u201d (2002) and the collections of philosophical dialogues \u201c\u015awiat trzeba przekr\u0119ci\u0107\u201d (2013) and \u201c\u015awiat trzeba doko\u0144czy\u0107\u201d (2017). Co-editor of books on Andrzej Klimowicz and Jadwiga Mizi\u0144ska. His most important essays were collected in \u201cKamienie pachn\u0105ce szafranem\u201d (Lublin, 2016). Recipient of several honours, including the Medal of the President of Lublin (2010) and the Medal of the 700th Anniversary of the City of Lublin (2018).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aleksandra Zi\u0144czuk<\/strong> is a literary scholar, poet, essayist, social anthropologist, and translator. She is a cultural manager, Editor-in-Chief of the \u201cKultura Enter\u201d magazine, and Managing Editor at the Workshops of Culture Publishing House. For her literary work and publishing initiatives, she has received numerous distinctions, including the Literatura na \u015awiecie Award and the Hryhorii Skovoroda International Literary Prize. For many years, she has been actively involved in creating spaces for intercultural dialogue at the intersection of cultural heritage, history, art, and literature.
