One of the true legends of Czech alternative culture. The formation was founded in Prague by the poet Pavel Zaj\u00ed\u010dek and bassist Milan Hlavsa (also known for his work with The Plastic People of the Universe). During the turbulent 1970s, DG 307 became a symbol of free thought, unbridled creative expression, and anti-establishment messaging. The group’s growing popularity eventually drew state repression; leader Pavel Zaj\u00ed\u010dek was imprisoned and later, in the 1980s, forced into exile\u2014first to Sweden and then to New York.
It was only after the Velvet Revolution in 1989 that Zaj\u00ed\u010dek could return to Prague. Today, the reactivated DG 307 successfully performs live, keeping alive the flame they so effectively ignited in their listeners at the very beginning of their artistic journey. Their presence in the program is a defining moment for anyone wishing to understand the soul of the Czech underground. <\/p>\n

Beginning with last year\u2019s edition of the Different Sounds Festival in Lublin, the showcase of independent record labels has become a permanent fixture of our program. Following last year\u2019s presentation of the extensive catalog of Kilogram Records\u2014the label founded by Ola and Miko\u0142aj Trzaska\u2014we are proud to host Guerilla Records this year.
Guerilla Records is currently one of the most vibrant independent labels in the Czech Republic, led since its inception by Vladimir Drapal, a renowned expert and enthusiast of the local alternative scene. This distinguished imprint serves as a home for legendary ensembles such as The Plastic People of the Universe, DG 307, and P\u016flnoc, while also regularly championing a new generation of emerging bands. Through the label\u2019s unwavering consistency and systematic efforts, the Czech scene has been experiencing a period of dynamic growth.
During the Different Sounds Festival, we will present the entire contemporary catalog of Guerilla Records and host discussions with its creators regarding the current state of the alternative scene among our southern neighbors.
