Film + Q&A | The World’s Dumbest Record
For anyone with even a passing familiarity with Poland’s independent music scene at the turn of the century, the album P.O.L.O.V.I.R.U.S. needs no introduction. It’s a true cult classic by the Tri-City band Kury, a project spearheaded by the visionary Tymon Tymański and featuring the exceptional talents of guitarist Piotr Pawlak and drummer Jacek Olter. The recording also boasted an impressive lineup of guest artists from Poland’s alternative music scene, including Jerzy Mazzoll, Leszek Możdżer , and Olaf Deriglasoff.
Now, in Konrad Kulczyński and Jakub Knera’s brilliant new documentary , The World’s Dumbest Record, viewers gain insight not only into the album’s creation but also the dynamic era that shaped it. The late 1990s were a fascinating time in Poland, marked by rapidly evolving, often brutal capitalism, the vibrant flourishing of the Tri-City artistic scene, and significant shifts within the Polish music market—all crucial elements of this larger cultural tapestry.
This film offers a fresh perspective on a world that has since vanished, making it a must-see not only for devoted fans of Kury’s iconic album but for anyone intrigued by that explosive cultural moment.
Following the screening, join us for a Q&A session with filmmakers Konrad Kulczyński and Jakub Knera, moderated by Tomasz Kowalewicz.
