Variété + Neda Malūnavičiūtė + Jan Maksimovič | POL / LTU
ABOUT
A special Polish-Lithuanian collaboration that promises to be one of the most intriguing highlights of this year’s Different Sounds Festival. Variété is a seminal new wave group formed in 1983, standing as an absolute legend and pioneer of the genre in Poland. Since its inception, the band has been led by vocalist and lyricist Grzegorz Kaźmierczak. With seven albums to their credit, their 2013 release, Piosenki kolonistów (Colonists’ Songs), earned widespread and well-deserved critical acclaim.
In this latest project, the group has invited distinguished figures from the Lithuanian jazz scene to join them. The fusion of Variété’s trance-like, modern sound and Kaźmierczak’s evocative poetry with the jazz sensibilities of flutist and vocalist Neda Malūnavičiūtė and saxophonist Jan Maksimovič creates a truly unique sonic atmosphere. This cross-border collaboration guarantees masterly performances, a wealth of musical layers, and immense artistic depth born from this creative encounter.
