ABOUT
Closing the roster of headliners for this year’s Different Sounds Festival is an absolute legend of the British alternative scene: UK Subs. Pioneers of punk rock, often mentioned in the same breath as The Clash, the Sex Pistols, and The Stranglers, the band is proudly celebrating 40 years of activity this year. Founded and continuously led by Charlie Harper since 1976, the group remains a powerhouse that defines the genre’s enduring strength and popularity.
UK Subs have 26 official albums to their name, which means they have successfully achieved their ambitious lifelong goal: releasing an album for every letter of the alphabet. This sequence began with the iconic Another Kind of Blues and concluded this year with their latest release, Ziezo. Such unwavering consistency and commitment to their own artistic path have become the band’s hallmark. As musical trends and fashions come and go, UK Subs remain at their post—a permanent guarantee of quality.
Their music has raised successive generations of fans, and their live performances have long since achieved legendary status. Anthems like “Riot,” “Warhead,” and “Down on the Farm” (later covered by Guns N’ Roses) have become fundamental pillars of the punk rock canon.
Today, UK Subs is a true institution, touring across all continents and performing at the world’s most prestigious festivals—including Hellfest in France and the Rebellion Festival in England—as well as in iconic underground clubs.
The upcoming Different Sounds Festival offers a perfect opportunity to witness a living legend of music on stage in Lublin.
