The Tiger Lillies | GBR
ABOUT
The Tiger Lillies — with roots tracing back to 1989, the group remains, 25 years later, one of the most original and unique ensembles, consistently defying simple classification. Having recorded over 30 albums during their career, the artists are set to celebrate their silver jubilee with the Lublin audience, preparing a special career-spanning program for the occasion.
The world of The Tiger Lillies is dark and mysterious, filled with moments of profound sorrow, yet brimming with black humor and a peculiar beauty. Founded by vocalist and accordionist Martyn Jacques, the group is described by its creator as an “anarchic, Brechtian trio in the spirit of street opera.” Their songs delve into the so-called “dark side of life,” always seasoned with a sharp dose of irony and detachment. Musically, The Tiger Lillies offer a vibrant blend of pre-war German cabaret, Gypsy music, and classical influences, echoing the styles of Kurt Weill, Bertolt Brecht, and Jacques Brel. Their live performances are a true aesthetic experience—surprising, inimitable, and truly one-of-a-kind.
