sneaky jesus is a Wrocław-based quartet that defies convention. The band blends the sounds of breakbeat, Polish jazz, dub, hardcore punk, psych-rock, and hip-hop, all without paying much heed to the established rules of any single genre. In the music of sneaky jesus, only two principles apply: don’t overthink it, and trust your emotions.
The quartet features Maciej Forreiter, whose guitar can transition from a thunderous roar to a gentle breeze; Matylda Gerber, who breathes immense power and emotional depth into the saxophone; Beniamin Łasiewicki, whose bass work takes harmony into another dimension while providing the perfect rhythmic grounding for the ensemble; and Filip Baczyński, who navigates a vast dynamic spectrum on the drums, injecting the rhythm with a series of unique shifts.
Building on the foundation of their debut, For Joseph Riddle, sneaky jesus is currently developing new material. Their latest compositions capture the mood of the Polish post-industrial landscape and reflect the emotions tied to living and creating in contemporary Poland.
