ABOUT
Serebryanaya Svadba (Silver Wedding) — the rising star of the Belarusian independent scene — is a Minsk-based collective led by Sveta “Benka” Ben. The group seamlessly blends French cabaret songs, Eastern folklore, and big-band energy with a touch of ska, jazz, and cutting-edge multimedia. Their boundless creativity, sheer joy of performing, and electrifying energy have already captivated audiences across Eastern Europe. Now, they are poised to conquer the rest of the continent. Founded in 2005, the ensemble currently features seven musicians. Their rich sonic palette is built upon a diverse array of instruments, including trumpet, trombone, violin, drums, keyboards, guitar, double bass, and accordion, complemented by an endless assortment of hand percussion and curious gadgets.
On stage, the artists are accompanied by suitcases filled with mysterious objects, famously transforming circus props, kitchenware, uniquely shaped bottles, and even vintage lingerie into musical instruments. Their lyrical world is a rich tapestry of Russian, German, French, and English.
Their latest album, Laterna Magica (2012), features 14 compositions, each enhanced by a visual element in the form of a special postcard. These visual aesthetics are integral to their live performances as well, with nearly every song featuring its own dedicated video backdrop or unique scenographic concept. Serebryanaya Svadba creates magnificent spectacles on stage, transporting the audience into a wondrous world of imagination and magic. This group is well on its way to becoming the next sensation of the international festival circuit.
