Rito | POL
ABOUT
Rito means “rite” or “ritual” in Esperanto, a name that perfectly captures the idea behind this avant-garde formation. The group consists of well-known musicians from the Tricity scene: guitarist and producer Piotr Pawlak (also responsible for electronics and sampling); Michał Gos and Jacek Stromski, two drummers representing distinct styles and playing techniques; and Olo Walicki, a double bassist already known to the Different Sounds audience for his “Kashubia in Armenia” project performed at the festival in 2015.
Rito is a phenomenon built largely on rhythm, primal energy, and vital force, designed to lead the listener into a trance. Their music drifts toward ethnic soundscapes while remaining decidedly modern and relevant. Drawing from their rich experiences in diverse groups such as Kury, Łoskot, Kaszebe, Apteka, Bielizna, Lonker See, and Oczi Cziorne, the members do not limit their explorations to music alone; they frequently invite collaborators from the worlds of dance, contemporary art, and performance. The philosophy represented by Rito aligns perfectly with the context of Different Sounds.
