Miesha & The Spanks | CAN
ABOUT
Miesha & The Spanks Miesha Louie is an artist representing the Secwépemc First Nation, while The Spanks refers to the various drummers who have accompanied her on stage over the years. Her primary musical partner, however, is Sean Hamilton, with whom she has spent the last five years refining and elevating her signature garage-rock sound.
Deeply influenced by proto-punk classics (such as The Runaways, MC5, and The Stooges) as well as 90s riot grrrl and grunge (including L7 and The Gits), Miesha & The Spanks conjure an energy that hits the listener full-force, plunging them into a world of lethal riffs and sweat-soaked concert halls.
Their 2018 full-length album, Girls Girls Girls, reached number one on the !earshot National Loud Chart and topped the Indigenous Music Countdown, earning three local music awards. In 2021, the duo was nominated for Rock Artist of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards. Miesha & The Spanks are proud participants in the Keychange 2023 programme.
