ABOUT
Jakub Skorupa is a Silesian vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter with a profound passion for blending musical genres and weaving his own life experiences into his songs—of which he has plenty, despite his young age. His journey has seen him pouring beer at miners’ feasts, trading cars, and producing corporate films, all while finding the time to pen the stage play Life is Tiring (Życie męczy).
When he released the track “Pociągi towarowe” (Freight Trains) in early 2021, he was instantly hailed as the “great hope” of the Polish music scene. He secured third place in Gazeta Wyborcza’s Sanki 2021 poll and embarked on a tour before his debut album, Zeszyt pierwszy (Notebook One), had even hit the shelves—a record that later earned him the Empik Discovery Award.
Describing himself as an observer of reality, Skorupa tells stories of what he sees and feels. His music is best described as a melancholic fusion of rap-style narrative and alternative instrumentation.
