ABOUT

Iriao is a Georgian ethno-jazz group founded in Tbilisi. Its leader, pianist David Malazonia, set out with the goal of combining classical Georgian polyphonic singing and folklore with jazz music. This is reflected in Iriao’s lineup, which features both a male vocal trio and a traditional rhythm section with percussion.
The group’s concerts are a true, genuine delight for the ears, where subtle sounds and melodies intertwine with spirited improvisation. Rapidly becoming one of the hallmarks and cultural exports of Georgia, the band will perform in Poland for the first time this year at the East of Culture – Different Sounds Art’n’Music Festival.
