Godflesh is a British industrial and post-metal legend, regarded—alongside Ministry (who graced Lublin in 2019)—as a seminal force in these genres. Formed in Birmingham in the late 1980s by Justin Broadrick and Ben Green, the group caused a sensation within the music industry with their debut album, Streetcleaner. Although the 30th anniversary of this legendary record has recently passed, it has stood the test of time perfectly, sounding as fresh and unsettling today as it did upon release.
With a heavy, uncompromising, yet hypnotic sound, the band’s use of drum machines and excursions into electronics and dub make Godflesh a truly unique entity. Their discography currently culminates with the 2017 album Post Self, released via Avalanche Recordings; however, Justin Broadrick recently announced that 2022 will bring a new studio album. For their performance in Lublin, Godflesh will present a broad, career-spanning spectrum of their work.
