One of the true legends of Czech alternative culture. The formation was founded in Prague by the poet Pavel Zajíček and bassist Milan Hlavsa (also known for his work with The Plastic People of the Universe). During the turbulent 1970s, DG 307 became a symbol of free thought, unbridled creative expression, and anti-establishment messaging. The group’s growing popularity eventually drew state repression; leader Pavel Zajíček was imprisoned and later, in the 1980s, forced into exile—first to Sweden and then to New York.
It was only after the Velvet Revolution in 1989 that Zajíček could return to Prague. Today, the reactivated DG 307 successfully performs live, keeping alive the flame they so effectively ignited in their listeners at the very beginning of their artistic journey. Their presence in the program is a defining moment for anyone wishing to understand the soul of the Czech underground.

GUERILLA RECORDS
Beginning with last year’s edition of the Different Sounds Festival in Lublin, the showcase of independent record labels has become a permanent fixture of our program. Following last year’s presentation of the extensive catalog of Kilogram Records—the label founded by Ola and Mikołaj Trzaska—we are proud to host Guerilla Records this year.
Guerilla Records is currently one of the most vibrant independent labels in the Czech Republic, led since its inception by Vladimir Drapal, a renowned expert and enthusiast of the local alternative scene. This distinguished imprint serves as a home for legendary ensembles such as The Plastic People of the Universe, DG 307, and Půlnoc, while also regularly championing a new generation of emerging bands. Through the label’s unwavering consistency and systematic efforts, the Czech scene has been experiencing a period of dynamic growth.
During the Different Sounds Festival, we will present the entire contemporary catalog of Guerilla Records and host discussions with its creators regarding the current state of the alternative scene among our southern neighbors. As part of this showcase in Lublin, the following artists will perform: The Plastic People of the Universe, DG 307, Nevypar Kovatjezd, and Kabaret Dr. Caligariho. http://www.guerilla.cz/?s=english
