ABOUT

Dalekie first drew attention in mid-2017 with the release of his debut EP, Futurama—a brief yet surprising electronic blend characterised by shifting themes that subtly nod to the IDM legacies of Amon Tobin, Clark, and Flying Lotus. Over the following year, the project permeated the public consciousness through positive reviews in the local media and a series of performances across the Tricity’s most vital clubs. These live shows are designed to be intensive, audiovisual experiences; in a short space of time, they have earned Dalekie the opportunity to support such heavyweights as Nosaj Thing and Clark.

His latest release, Fragments of Fiction, picks up where Futurama left off. Across seven tracks, the listener is taken on a short, fast-paced, and intense journey through the uncomfortable and the menacing—elements that are as alluring as they are daunting. The raw sound of the record is built upon powerful distorted bass, expansive reverbs, and a fiercely accelerating tempo. The result is a release that is more cohesive, yet simultaneously multi-dimensional; it marks a further step in the development of his own musical language, where previous stylistic associations are no longer so obvious.

Marcin Szulc (the artist behind the moniker) has recently been active as a producer, contributing to the acclaimed debut of wh0wh0 (Jacek Prościński) and working in the studio with acts like Gaijin Blues and Klawo. He also collaborated with Resina on the soundtrack for the game Vampire: The Masquerade – Shadows of New York. Alongside Tomek Hoax, he co-runs the independent Tricity-based label, Coastline Northern Cuts.
