Contemporary Noise Ensemble | POL
ABOUT
Contemporary Noise Ensemble—founded in Szubin and led since its inception by brothers Kuba and Bartek Kapsa—is today regarded as a seminal force for an entire generation of contemporary jazz in Poland. Having already achieved significant success with their guitar-driven project Something Like Elvis, the brothers eventually chose to evolve their musical language and style. Following their tenure in the punk-alternative scene (which included touring with the likes of Fugazi and Nomeansno), they shifted their focus toward improvisation and illustrative music for cinema and theatre.
Over the years, the Ensemble has taken the form of a quartet, quintet, and even a sextet, consistently delivering a high level of musicianship and a constant flow of fresh ideas. Albums such as Pig Inside the Gentleman and Theatre Play Music are now considered modern classics. The band returns to Lublin after a long hiatus, bringing with them material from their latest record, An Excellent Spiritual Serviceman. Their performance is an absolute must-see, and not only for jazz aficionados.
