The next act in this year’s programme is the Brighton-based duo AK/DK. Their very approach to composition and performance aligns perfectly with the Different Sounds ethos. The British pair surprises audiences with a daring setup featuring two full drum kits, augmented by synthesizer textures that evoke the pioneers of the early synth and electro scenes.
Their concerts are a force of nature—a high-energy journey through a multitude of genres and styles. At times, the mood is purely danceable, as the artists give a clever nod to the golden era of disco. At others, the atmosphere darkens as the duo dives into loud, trance-like, and high-octane rhythms. Their motoric, rhythm-driven sound frequently veers toward the territories of African tribal music, while simultaneously making excursions into punk, noise, and techno. During their Lublin performance, we fully immersed ourselves in this sonic blend and surrendered to the dancing trance.
