Agata Karczewska | POL
ABOUT
Agata Karczewska is a Warsaw-based singer-songwriter whose music occupies the space between American folk and country. Her style, often described as musical minimalism, is anchored by her distinctive vocals and the warm resonance of the acoustic guitar. A self-taught musician, she draws heavily from songwriting traditions, honing her craft through the influence of idols such as Elliott Smith and Bob Dylan. Each of her songs serves as an independent narrative, woven from memories, pop-culture references, and overheard stories.
On 29 March 2019, Karczewska released her debut album, I’m Not Good at Having Fun. Produced by Marcin Bors—renowned for his work with Krzysztof Zalewski, Nosowska, and Hey—the record’s sparse, raw compositions evoke the authentic atmosphere of the American South. Her powerful, nonchalant vocal delivery, combined with candid and emotional lyrics, creates a blend rarely encountered on the Polish music scene.
In 2020, Agata was nominated for a Fryderyk Award in the Blues Album of the Year category. She also received a Mateusz—a prestigious distinction for young artists awarded by Radio Three. She participated in the “Estrada on the Web: DUETS” project, where she collaborated with John Porter on the track “No Way to Say Goodbye.” This partnership evolved into a full-length album titled On The Wrong Planet, released in June of this year.
