Hailing from Rzeszów, 1984 is a legend of the Polish new wave scene, enjoying a well-deserved status as a cult band within the genre. To this day, the group is led by one of its founding members—guitarist and lyricist Piotr „Mizerny” Liszcz. Following years of turbulent line-up changes and internal shifts, the formation is currently experiencing a powerful resurgence.
Their live performances are high-energy, “seize-you-by-the-throat” sets that evoke comparisons to the prime years of acts like Swans or NoMeansNo. Although much time has passed since their famous 1985 debut on the main stage of the Jarocin Festival, the band continues to follow its own uncompromising path. Their latest album is set for release shortly, naturally appearing under the Antena Krzyku imprint.
