Hubert „Spięty” Dobaczewski is a true one-off on the Polish music scene. A guitarist, vocalist, producer, and above all, a master lyricist, he has successfully maintained a consistently high creative standard for over twenty years. Spięty is an artist endowed with extraordinary sensitivity, a keen sense of observation, and a talent for storytelling, all balanced by a healthy distance from the world, a wry sense of humour, and a sharp wit.
It has been exactly 12 years since his solo debut—the memorable album Antyszanty—so the time was ripe for a new release, especially as his primary formation, Lao Che, with whom he achieved his greatest successes, decided to take an artistic hiatus. This year, Spięty has delivered his long-awaited follow-up: Black Mental. The title itself evokes the very elements that define him as an artist; after all, he cut his teeth in metal bands like Aberration, but also famously rapped in the project Koli on the album Szemrany.
