George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic | USA

ABOUT

In today’s music world, the term “living legend” is often tossed around far too lightly—especially when every other young artist claims the title after a single debut. However, the list of true icons is considerably shorter, and George Clinton undeniably sits at the top of it.

Alongside James Brown and Sly Stone, Clinton is recognized as the founding father and primary architect of Funk. He is best known as the mastermind behind the cult-status ensembles Parliament and Funkadelic, with whom he has toured the globe for decades. His discography is a streak of bestsellers; in the 1970s alone, he released a string of consecutive gold and platinum records in the U.S., including seminal masterpieces like Mothership Connection, One Nation Under a Groove, and Uncle Jam Wants You.
Over the years, the ranks of Parliament-Funkadelic have served as a stable for world-class talent, featuring virtuosos such as Maceo Parker, Eddie Hazel, and the legendary Collins brothers (Catfish, Glen, and Bootsy). While Funk has always been the engine of his “P-Funk” orchestras, Clinton has masterfully navigated acid jazz, soul, R&B, and blues. His pedigree even traces back to the 1960s, where he worked as a songwriter for the legendary Motown label during its golden era in Detroit.

W latach 90. cała śmietanka amerykańskiego hip-hopu zapraszała artystę do swoich produkcji – z Wu-Tang Clan zarejestrował „Wolves”, z Ice Cube’em „Bop Gun”, z Outcast „Synthesizer”, a z Tupakiem choćby „Can’t C me” ze słynnego albumu „All eyes on me”. Jeden z największych hitów Snoop Dogga „Who am I” oparty jest na kultowym numerze Clintona „Atomic dog”. Takich kooperacji można wymienić naprawdę sporo.

Clinton’s collaborative history is nothing short of breathtaking. He has worked with a dizzying array of giants, including Red Hot Chili Peppers (producing their iconic Freaky Styley album), Primal Scream, Carlos Santana, and Kendrick Lamar. In the 1990s, he became the spiritual godfather of American hip-hop; he recorded “Wolves” with Wu-Tang Clan, “Bop Gun” with Ice Cube, “Synthesizer” with Outkast, and “Can’t C Me” for Tupac Shakur’s classic All Eyez on Me. Even Snoop Dogg’s massive hit “Who Am I” is built upon the bones of Clinton’s cult classic “Atomic Dog.”
In 1997, George Clinton was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the world’s most prestigious musical institution.

A multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and the visionary pioneer of the P-Funk style, he comes to Lublin for an exclusive Polish performance with his massive, twenty-plus-member orchestra.
