Igor Krutogolov’s Toy Orchestra –  a phenomenal ensemble of nearly ten musicians led by Igor Krutogolov. On Tel Aviv’s excellent and diverse independent scene, Krutogolov is practically an institution. He is the leader of formations such as Kruzenshtern & Parohod (who performed on our stage in 2014) and Karate Band, and even has a Polish connection through a collaborative album with Mitch & Mitch. According to many experts, his Toy Orchestra is the world’s finest band performing exclusively on children’s instruments.
Miniature guitars, toy drums, children’s clarinets and accordions, toy pianos, and rattles—though these instruments are designed almost entirely for preschoolers, the Toy Orchestra manages to conjure pure magic from them. Their concerts are, on one hand, an incredible dose of joy and positive energy for audiences of all ages; on the other, they are a feast for music connoisseurs, as the group’s repertoire even includes covers of hits like Sepultura’s “Roots” or Portishead’s “Over.”
